Fortunate

What was happening at Aamina’s House yesterday? I heard lot of sounds from there.

Amma, she brought one new brand Maruti car yesterday. She was saying, the school bus is not regular and she is worried about the safety of the children too.

Hmmmm…..what to say…it is fate. Till last year they were studying in Government Pallikoodam (1). Now they are going to English Medium….for everything there should be a good destiny……..

Sathiyam thanne (2) How many time she came here to borrow money for food? Nowdays everyday getting Biriyani’s aroma from her house. If my destiny is good, then I may never come to this condition ever in life.

What is wrong with your condition now? Whatever you had now, it is more than you deserved.

Oh…Athe(3)…I got everything from your son. Now nothing left in this life.  That’s why am enjoying all kind of poverty and struggles now.

Aaahaha…Rajakumari (4), you born with golden spoon in your mouth. Now we are the one who spoiled your colourfull life.

Enthe? (5) Is there any doubt left in that?

No doubt on anything.  Go and tell all these things to someone who don’t know about you and your Taravadu (6). The day you came to this house, the peace has lost forever.

Oho…otherwise there was full of peace floating over here. Don’t force me to open my mouth.

If you open your mouth, will you swallow all of us or what?  What is your problem? Why you are shouting and cursing since morning. Don’t you give him a little peace in his life?

Athe… athe I am the one who is not giving peace to your son Amma.  Let him take rest throughout the life in this Veranda counting whoever passing through the road. You keep singing lullaby to him.

Ente Daivame (7)…what to do….it is the vidhi (8) which made him like this. I think my kutty (9) need more time to recover from the shock of that tragedy.  Who can forget that ill fate day….who thought the plane will crash like this? But God is great, he saved my child.   How many lost their life and how many became handicapped. Shiva..shiva…..

Athe Amma…you thank God that your son escaped from that tragedy. But whoever lost their life…..saved their family too.

Aahh just take the matter of Aamina. Mustaffa was a labour in a gulf country. He was returning because he lost his job due to recession. But Bhagya Lakshmi(10) blessed him through death. How many they got as compensation?

It is more than 80 lakhs rupees. He may never have earned this much in his life time, if he was working over there. Also I heard there are new proposals coming for Aamina. Someone from south Kerala proposed her for second marriage. I think he too working in Gulf country only.

No no.  I know her. She can’t marry again. .what she will do the children? She definitely won’t do that.
Why should not? Her parents will take care of the children. Why she should spoil her life? If the person is good, he will accept her children too. Mustaffa has gone…now what remains in her life?

Seri thanne. (11) My son too went to same place and got a job of officer. But what he did ? Every vacation was a celebration for him and will return with lot of debts. This house was crowded with friends and relatives and now even stray dogs not peeping in. He hardly arranged money to marry his sisters too. He has no savings now.

Athe…that’s what I was telling. Even though if this person sit whole day like this, we all will die because of hunger. He is not returning to gulf, because he is afraid of Aero plain. But why he is not going for any work over here?

What you are telling? How can he do small job after doing officer work in a Gulf country?

Men have to change as per situation. We should not live in the past always…whether it is good or bad. It is nothing. He is just lazy and his ego is preventing him to do any small work.

Ok… what you want him to do now?

Amma tell  him to go for some work to feed his family. Sitting like Saint and thinking like Philosopher will not calm the fire in stomach.

What you are telling? I told him many time…but what to do? He is sitting like a rock. May be somebody did a black magic on him. That is why he is sitting like this all the day at home.

Hmmm…That is possible. The entire world is running here and there for money in today’s world. Somebody may did black magic because of jealousy to see him sit like this all the day in peace.

Now you shut up. If you will curse him like this, my child will do some bad thing to him. Beware.

Now what good thing left in this family? I am not cursing him. Just see the condition of this house now? From tomorrow there is no rice to eat. From next month, children can’t go to school. If he will not move again, I will be forced to go back to my house with my children. No other way.

Podi(12)….Big fortune is waiting for you over there.

Agreed we are poor. But my father still does work in this age. He is capable to look after me and my children. He was adamant and greedy. That’s why he fixed my marriage with a Gulf Emigrant. Otherwise that grocery shop fellow was perfect for me.

Aiyayyo……Don’t force me to tell all the truth. Okay? I have heard about that too from your mother. If it is him, then your father may have come to road, by paying the dowry. She told your Great Grocery fellow demanded  5 lakhs and 50 Pavan (15)  gold as Sthree dhanam(13). What did you give to my child ? Huh !!!!! Better shut your mouth and let him live.

Yes you always shut my mouth for your son. Let him sit Idle forever and make a show case to keep him as a show piece. If not, we will make a temple to place him to worship. You are the one who spoiled him. I know that.

I am the one huh? You will say that to me. I still remember how your mother thanked me with tearfull eyes at the time of marriage to select her girl. Now you are talking like this to me. There were lot of good proposals came to him….God only knows why he got mesmerized to see you and now he is suffering.

Yeah….because all these misfortunes are written in my head know? How many time I told him that we do not need a second child. At that time he was boasting that if God will give life, then will give food too. Now what happened? Even she is not two year old, he lost his job. Now sitting like a saint on Verandah….. expecting something will fall from the sky to save him and family. Even that old man Adiga got 2 lakhs when he injured in that accident. It was his good time when he decided to visit his daughter & family in Gulf.

Now you stop cursing him. My son will recover from this tragedy very soon. He will get a better job here itself.

Athe athe the vacancy of the District Collector will come to him for sitting like this.

Why not? If God is great, he will have that job too. You know he was always first in his life for everything. He was first in his school.  He was the fortunate one who first went to Gulf Country from this place and secured a better job.  What to do? He got afraid of this tragedy.

What tragedy Amma? The real tragedies are coming ahead now. Now your medicines are over.  The ration will be finished tomorrow.  Last week I borrowed money from my father for your costly medicine.  If I think all these things…..my head is started bursting….you know Amma, I lost my sleep for past few days. Tell me, to whom I can share all these things other than you? None of your daughters are coming here to enquire your well being now. It is not their problem. They know now they are not going to get anything from here any more. Also they may have fear that we may going to depend on them. Now you tell me Amma, What I can do, if this man will sit idle forever? Really I am getting envy to see Aamina now a days. It is true that she lost Mustaffa forever. But all of them are happy now. His death blessed them with prosperity.

What you think? All these things are not in my mind? What can we do? I told you….we must have a good destiny written on our forehead. Your husband never had patience in his life. Even he came out to this world in the 8th month from my womb. And he was the first one who jumped out of that burning plane without having a scratch over his body. hmmmmmm he was always eager for everything. I think Aamina is preparing Paayasam (14) today. You close that window tightly. Rama…rama..rama…rama……….
